Sorghum Gift Box

Sorghum is the classic Kentucky sweetener, made from cane juice freshly pressed every autumn and boiled down into a unique molasses. Full of vitamins and minerals, it has a distinctive flavor profile –  rich, sweet and slightly tangy.  

We bake it into spice cookies, whisk it into pan sauces, brine birds in it, make a syrup for sweet potato beignets and –  maybe best of all – spoon it onto hot buttered biscuits fresh from the oven.

Ouita likes to stir her bourbon with a sorghum sucker; she says it pushes the bourbon’s finish almost to infinity.
