Lover’s Indulgence

by Josh Ott

Bourbon gets to have a little fun in this flirty drink! Recipe makes two drinks!

Ingredients

3oz Knob Creek Small Batch 9-year-old
2oz Disaronno amaretto
1oz Grand Marnier orange liqueur
2oz Chocolate Honey Raspberry syrup *below
2 bar spoon or .25 tsp fresh lemon juice
Fresh orange and raspberries for garnish

Directions

Build the cocktail in a cocktail shaker. Add ice last and shake for approximately 45 to 60 seconds.
Strain the cocktail using a hawthorn/ bar strainer through a fine mesh strainer into the glass. We suggest a coupe but a martini glass will also work.

Peel a 2” long piece of orange peel and squeeze it over the top of the cocktail to express the oils. Add the peel and a fresh raspberry to a skewer or pick for garnish. Enjoy!

In lieu of Grand Marnier or Disaronno, feel free to sub any amaretto or orange liqueur;  triple sec will also work.

Chocolate Honey Raspberry Syrup

Ingredients

1 cup water

3 oz of raspberries (roughly half a clamshell)

2 T unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 T honey

1/4 tsp ground coriander

Directions

Add raspberries to a pot and mash with the back of a spoon. Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot. Slowly bring to a slow boil while stirring frequently with a whisk. Turn down heat to simmer. Simmer for two minutes while stirring with a whisk.  Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh strainer. Let cool before mixing in a cocktail.

Note: This recipe will make about 1 ½ cups of syrup.  Refrigerate the extra and use for hot chocolate, in coffee, over ice cream or to make a yummy smoothie.  Or just invite a few close friends over!
