We have a big secret to share….for the last 18 months, we’ve been working on a very special project called You Belong Here with Macaroni Art – a Kentucky-based film company founded by Rick and Jenny Gomez, and Steve Zahn and Robyn Peterman-Zahn.
You Belong Here is a joyous celebration of our Kentucky neighbors and the place we all call home. It’s an eight-part docuseries that tells the story of Kentucky’s rich culture through the eyes of Chef Ouita Michel, who is our guide on this remarkable journey.
You Belong Here is about the power of food to bring people together — those who grow it, the chefs who prepare it, the ones who serve it, and all of us who partake of it.
So we’re thrilled that the first episode of YBH has been selected for screening at the prestigious ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas. And after the episode airs, Rick and Steve will join Chef Ouita onstage to discuss their inspiration for the show, how it came together, and their plans for the future.
None of this would have been possible without the support of VisitLEX, the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet; and partners from one end of the state to the other — Paducah, Owensboro, Louisville, Bowling Green, Northern Kentucky, Lexington, Somerset and Corbin.
They’ve been at our side every step of the way, enthusiastically cheering us on!
It’s all incredibly exciting and we’re nowhere close to being done. There’s more to come, but in the meantime, here’s a glimpse of where we’ve been and what lies ahead.
And be sure to follow Macaroni Art on Instagram for more behind the scenes looks!
