Bundle of Joy

By Sean McClary

A quick and refreshing zero proof cocktail named after a rock climbing route in the Red River Gorge that Sean is looking forward to climbing! We highly recommend buying fresh citrus fruits and juicing them yourself. The rind and pith excrete oils and elevate the drink even more!

Ingredients

1 ½ oz fresh grapefruit juice

1 oz fresh lemon juice

1 oz ginger syrup *make ahead

3-5 dashes of Peychauds

Directions

Combine all ingredients into a shaker tin with ice. Shake until cold, roughly 10-12 seconds. Strain into Collins glass with ice and top with soda water!

Garnish with a half wheel of grapefruit and/or sprig of rosemary.

Ginger Syrup

Ingredients

½ cup ginger  (~½ pound)

1 cup water

1 cup sugar

Directions

Rough chop ginger, peel and all! Process it in a food processor/blender as much as possible. Add to a pot along with sugar and water. Bring to boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Simmer on low for 30 minutes. Let cool, strain out ginger. Pour into a jar and keep in your fridge for up to two weeks!

Qabuli Pulao Recipe

Qabuli Pulao is not a dish to be rushed. It’s not a difficult dish to make but multiple bowls and pots and pans will be used! It’s best made on a snowy weekend afternoon while sipping a leisurely cup of tea. Even better, play a little game of Barfi on a friend and have them make it for you!
